Dandeleon

Это немцы и я не перестаю удивляться, как такие команды могут быть совершенно забыты.
Почему например 125, Rue Montmartre стали очень популярны в определенных кругах, а эти ребята нет. Они тоже были из Белефильда, они играли тоже самое, черт возьми, это был эмо\инди-рок, правда с мужским, но очень таким чувственным вокалом. Я уверен, что они и делили вместе сцену, это предсказуемо.
Ну я бы тоже о них никогда бы ничего не узнал, но перепала мне как-то их s/t семерка.
В 98 году родился лейбл The Disapointed's Love Letter и первым их релизом стала именно эта дебютная семерка Dandeleon, которую я имею радость держать в руках.
Белефильд, Германия. Из было трое и звали их Ole (гитара\вокал), Robert Schröder (бас) и Ulf (барабаны). Начнем с самого начала, они образовались в 97 году и записали демо кассету, ну так, чисто для себя и друзей. Через полгода, в 98 у них вышла вот эта семерка на три трека. Эта группа стала отправной точкой лебла The Disapointed's Love Letter. Чувак, заправляющий лейблом, хотел выпустить один сборник-бенефит на кассете, сделал флаеры, где предлагал местным группам выслать записи на сборник и раздавал их на различных концертах. Dandeleon были одной из немногих групп откликнувшейся на его предложение, они выслали ему их демо кассету, которая ему на самом деле сначала показалась как-то, мммм, ну никак. Позже он переслушал запись и я даже переводить это не хочу - "meanwhile i had listened several times to their tape and i thought it was more than good while i was dancing thought my room" Он позвонил Ole и пригласил их группе выступить на одном из концертов, который он организовывал. Dandeleon с радостью согласились и по его словам, вживую они поразили его намного больше, чем на записи. Да и как люди ребята ему очень понравились. Под впечатлением концерта он снова с ними связался и предложил записать семерку. Парни с радостью согласились.

Это было одно из самых знаменательных решений лейбла The Disapointed's Love Letter, именно с этого момента и началась его история (по правде говоря самого названия The Disapointed's Love Letter еще не было, сначала он назывался Nobnob). "finally it's done. it's ours". Это с любовью оформленная семерка, очень красиво и очень душевно, я это прочувствовал и я серьезно. Как и материал на ней. Ну так вот, продолжаем, благодаря Dandeleon он узнал много хороших людей, завел друзей, познакомился с группами, ну в общем влился в хардкор сцену Германии. Он ездил с группой на их мини-туры в апреле\мае 99 года и всячески им помогал. Ну и вот. В 2000 году группа съездила в недельный тур по Германии вместе с Milemarker и записала вторую семерку, естественно на The Disapointed's Love Letter, называлась она Science Fiction и на обложке знакомо и приветливо смотрел на тебя Юрий Гагарин. После записи первой семерки группу покинул барабанщик Ulf и на его месте барабанил их друг Oli.
Еще ребята играли с канадцами Painted Thin и Dandeleon им очень понравились, в одном из интервью, когда их спросили о том какие группы из Германии во время тура им понравились и они назвали именно Dandeleon.
Collective Zine сравнили эту запись с Christie Front Drive, ммм, ну не знаю, возможно. Лично мне первая семерка нравится намного больше, чем Science Fiction. Чуть ниже я выложу различные ревью зинов на обе пластинки, довольно интересные.
А еще Dandeleon в 2000 году отметились песней Our Last Love Song на сборнике The Cowboy's Plane Game (куча известных немцев там ней еще было, Maggat, Yage, Kubiak, Cyan, The Robocop Kraus и другие). Это действительна была их last love song.
Они распались в том же году. Остались совершенно неизвестны и я рад, что могу поделиться ими с вами. Вы не можете их пропустить, качайте и слушайте.

"It never ceases to amaze me the amount of work that goes into some releases, and this 7" from Germany's DANDELEON is another that amazes me, with it's totally handmade sleeve of stamped logos, pasted on pictures, window cut-outs and inserts. It's also touching to read the explanation of why this record came about and the guy's desire to start giving back to his scene. So it's just as well with all of this that the music doesn't let it down. DANDELEON are a fragile band, their music is driving and melodic but with a certain edginess that sets it apart. Of course it's the vocals that really give the band this fragile feel, with their high-pitched tones and eccentricities that bring to mind the likes of CAPN JAZZ or maybe even in some crazy way, J Mascis if he sounded like he meant it, y'know just that sort of erratic delicateness. The two lead songs "Frimpy" and "Coffee" are direct poppy emo songs that fairly roll along and drag you with them whereas the flipside song "Train" is a much more drawn-out song that really gives the band a chance to breathe a little more and play around with their rhythms. "With an awesome layout like this, I will definately take this seriously. I enjoy this sweetness and the same Rusty James feeling. The first side kicks right in and offers some straight up melodic music. But when you flip this kid over it leaves you with both hands empty. These kids hail from Germany and it is quite obvious in the music. It is nice to hear some difference in emo-ish styles and they do a pretty good job in the two quick numbers on side A. Dandeleon, if they stuck with their quick wittiness would travel the airwaves pretty well, at least in my ears. SA" (HEARTATTACK #20)

"A nicely done handmade coverartwork and lyric booklet doesn`t necessarily mean that it contains good music, but in this case it`s a perfect symbiosis of these two elements. Rocky emo with a big portion of catchy & melodic harmonies and grand vocals. Fragile but powerful. MH" (INTERPOL TIMES #14)

science fiction 7"

"There`s a lot of twangy emo guitar on this 7". I`m really beginning to despise this guitar sound but here it sounds pretty good. I think it`s because DANDELEON have an occasionally high vocal style that compliments it, makes it seem really melodic and clear. The music on "K.Offer.Radi.You" is like any (good) emo band, say SUNFACTOR all mellow, but vocally reminds me of Indie Alias bands like SMALL, and is an excellent song. On the b-side, "Slow Down Moses" has vocals that are a bit irritating, but the harmonica-led "Dear Jurij Gagarin" is slower and really sweet college rock stuff. This 7" is the label`s "fourth love letter". Very emo. Will appeal to the indie kids. HE" (FRACTURE #13)

"This pleasant sounding record is full of melodic indie-pop. The review process often makes me crave things that sound "new". Although these songs draw from the same palette that many others do, they are very well done with soul and character. The vocals sound a bit like Michael Stipe, and all three songs have poetic interpersonal lyrics. The last song makes excellent use of a harmonica. DF" (HEARTATTACK #28)

"Zweite 7" von Dandeleon auf The Disappointed Loveletter Records (SIC!). Schöner Emo-Rock, erinnert einen an den Sommer! Und mensch hofft bei solchen Klängen das die schöne Jahreszeit bald wieder anfängt! Der Sound ist sehr Alternative, was aber nicht abwertend ist! "Well, I figured that no-one ever would work out how to sound like Christie Front Drive, yet still be a good band. I thought it was impossible. Most bands that copy CFD mess up somewhere. They get some of the guitars right but after an awesome 2 minute build up they start playing that Deep Elm style post-hardcore which isn't my thing. Or the vocalist sounds like some pretty boy from the local one time straight edge band that realised he better sing properly to pick up girls now that he lost his edge. Basically, nobody has ever quite worked out how to sound anything like CFD. And I am not sure entirely if Dandeleon intentionally are trying to be like CFD here, but dagnammit, this is as close as I have heard to a CFD tribute band that isn't remotely the fuckest uppest. Where it differs is that this band is entirely poppy and superbly melodic over the 3 songs here, yet delightfully fuzzy in that sort of earnest, early Promise Ring way too. The vocals are wavery and wobbly, and go some way to making them sound very Lovesick-y too, especially on the 2nd song. And I love that DIY emo-indie thing, Lovesick were the only band I have heard playing it in the past 3 years, though I guess I don't actively set out to hunt down that type of thing as I am pretty sure it would be a futile exercise. The last track is really different, throwing in a harmonica to for some neat variation. This song rules real hard!

I am surprised at how much I enjoyed this record, I really didn't expect to ever here a record in this style that sounded as purely innocent and enjoyable for a super long time. Nice one!"
